“As a court-appointed advocate for a teenager in foster care, Hannah Stombler-Levine exceeds every expectation we have for our volunteers. Hannah Stombler-Levine has been a steadfast presence for her youth for 2+ years now, remaining by her side as she has lived in six different placements around the state. Since Hannah Stombler-Levine has been working intensively with this youth, her living placement has stabilized, she has found success in school, and experienced increased exposure to extracurricular activities. On her youth’s "team", Hannah is the driving force behind family visits/relationship maintenance, education in life skills, and academic enrichment. When her youth was struggling in in school after missing nearly all of 7th grade, Hannah worked to raise over $1500 for tutoring services (and then coordinated the rides to the tutoring center), which enabled her youth to graduate 8th grade. In the bureaucracy that is the dependency system, our CASAs are often tasked with being the “squeaky wheel” for their youth. Hannah manages to wade through this bureaucracy with a consistently upbeat and diplomatic demeanor. As her immediate supervisor, I know that Hannah Stombler-Levine will always be available for check-ins and that her reports will be thorough and submitted in a timely manner. In addition to being an exemplary advocate, Hannah also works to support our organization as a whole by helping with fundraising efforts, seeking out extracurricular and job training opportunities for other youth, and building community connections for recruitment. Hannah Stombler-Levine expertly matches her innate altruism with serious organizational expertise; any team would be lucky to have her.”

Thinking of a way to give back without leaving your house?
During the pandemic, Hannah Stombler-Levine found creative alternatives to give back to her community when she was unable to leave the house. Working at her kitchen table, Hannah made jewelry and raised thousands of dollars for various non-profits including Asian Immigrant Women Advocates and City Youth Now.
